Technological innovation and transforming economic development mode are two novel terms emerged from chi-na's open economy. The key of technological innovation driving the transformation of economic development mode is to boost the contribution to economic growth and turn to its primary driving force. Technological innovation has never been explicit defined in western economic academics and there are few literatures connecting it with transforming economic though, its con-notation can be found in ample studies of invention, innovation, technological progress and economic growth. The driving pro-cess consists three phases: invention of new products and crafts, transfer inventions to marketable innovation and innovation disperse. The reasons of drive, diffusion and transfer, ?Transmission mechanism and performance evaluation are key research elements.% “科技创新”与“转变经济发展方式”均是从中国改革开放实践层面提出的新兴词汇。科技创新支撑经济发展方式转变的核心在于提高科技进步与创新对经济增长的贡献度，使其成为经济增长的最重要推动力。在西方经济学的经典理论中，并没有明确提出科技创新的概念；直接以“科技创新与转变经济发展方式”为主题的专题研究也很稀少。尽管如此，科技创新的主要内涵在发明、创新、技术进步以及经济增长理论的研讨中已展开得较为充分。以科技创新促进经济发展方式转变可通过创造新产品和新工艺的发明、把发明转化为商业应用的创新、把创新扩散到整个经济社会三个阶段，重点抓住发明、创新和技术进步促进经济增长的原因、扩散与转移、传导机制、绩效评价几个关键环节。
