In the interpretation of the relations between the heroes and the heroines in the novel from the perspective of post - colonial feminism, a binary opposition between the representa: tion of patriarchal -colonial discourse and the subversion of colonial discourse especially patriarchal -colonial discourse embodied respectively by the hero Mustafa Said and his follower Wad Rayyes and by the western-eastern women represented by Jean Morris and Hosna Bint Mahmoud, is dug out.
