An empirical study of the effect of the translation proj ect on learners ’ translation competence has been carried out on the English j uniors from a newly-built application-oriented under-graduate institution.Questionnaires and interviews show the significance of the application of the translation proj ect and the teacher’s supporting role in teaching translation theories and skills.%本研究以某新建应用型本科院校《英语笔译》课程的大三学生为研究对象,对翻译项目实践的教学效果进行实证研究。问卷调查和访谈的结果均表明了以小组合作方式进行翻译项目实践的必要性,也表明教师在翻译理论和技巧指导方面的支架作用的重要性。
