中国之侠的产生和发展，在中国早期社会有它的必然性。随着社会的发展，底层社会的劳动人民需要那些伸张正义，扶危济国的侠客保障自己的生活，上层社会的权贵与士大夫为满足自身名利与地位的需要而大兴养士之风。于是，文人写武侠的文学性作品便出现。从司马迁的《史记·游侠列传》到《史记·刺客列传》对于侠的性格特征的文学性描述，到唐诗《侠客行》和唐传奇《虬髯客传》，《红线传》，《聂隐娘传》等进一步对武侠文学基本模式和故事情节的丰富，即标志了中国武侠文学进入成熟阶段。%Emergence and development of Kungfu in China had inevitability in early Chinese society because working people in the bottom society needed swordsmen, who were a champion of justice and helped the poor and the needy, to safeguard their lives while maintaining swordsmen aroused among those influential and scholar officers in the upper class in order to satisfy their popularities and positions. Kungfu literature by scholars came into being. From Sima Qian＇ s Records of History - Biographies of Swordsmen and Records of History - Biographies of Assassins that described characters of swordsmen to the poem Tour of Swordsmen and the legends Biography of Qiu Ranke, Biography of Hong Xian and Biography of Nie Yinliang that enriched the basic structure and the plot, all this symbolized the mature phase of Kungfu literature.
