20世纪三四十年代日本在云冈石窟的7次调查得到了日本政府和军队的支持。长广敏雄参与了其中4次调查，留下了丰富的一手资料和较为可信的日记。这7次调查以实地拍摄和测绘为主。调查形成的报告《云冈石窟》16卷本，成为了目前研究云冈石窟主要的文本依据。长广敏雄的《云冈日记》是20世纪三四十年代云冈石窟调查的真实记录，同时也是日本侵略中国的见证。%In the 1930s and 1940s,Japan investigated Yungang Grottoes for 7 times, which got the support of the Japanese government and the army. Nagahiro Toshio participated in the four surveys and left a wealth of primary source materials and credible diary. These surveys worked and mapped in Yungang Grottoes. Investigation Report becomes the main text basis of the research of Yungang Grottoes. Yungang Diary:Survey of the Buddist Culture during Wartime is not only true record,but also the evidence of the Japan invasion of China.
