Consciousness, which Arthur Schopenhauer calls the ‘world-knot ’ , has arguably been the central problem in modern philosophy since its inception in the 17th century. Since the 19th century in particular, it has become the taboo of scientific research. In recent years there has been an explosion of scientific work on con-sciousness in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and other fields. It has become possible to think that we are moving toward a genuine scientific understanding of conscious experience. Dr. Chen’ s new book provides an ob-jective and systematical elaboration of neurophenomenology, offering a reciprocal constraint relationship between phenomenology and neuroscience to advance this interdisciplinary approach.%意识被德国伟大的哲学家叔本华冠以“世界之结”,成为若干个世纪以来哲学家们争论的焦点,以及近现代以来科学研究的“禁区”。
