时轮进入1949年,随着新中国的建立,中国科学院宣告成立,不少专业的高级知识分子逐渐聚拢北京.竺可桢、黄秉维成为中科院地理学科的负责人,谭其骧、侯仁之等学者则聚靠地理研究所,酝酿着历史地理学如何起步发展.为配合国家的生产建设,50～70 年代科学院等部门实行的"任务带学科"组织方式,吸引了谭其骧、史念海、侯仁之等学者投身到黄河、黄土高原、西北沙漠改造的研究潮流中,所编著的我国第一套《中国自然地理》丛书中,也确定了《历史自然地理》的选题和著述任务,结果促使历史地理研究循着自然地理(自然综合体)的研究路径发展起来.本文认同科学社会学的研究方法,通过对人物(学者)、学说(论著)、事业(学科)与时代背景之间学术史的初步考察,认为历史自然地理这一领域的研究是通过对现实生产建设所遇问题的历史由来及其症结的揭示来展示学科价值,在当时已被纳入服务国家建设需要的轨道.这一做法产生的一个结果即为:历史地理学研究方法和内容由此得以丰富,历史地理学科因此得到彰显.%1949 saw the founding of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences with many senior pro-fessionals and intellectuals gradually gathering in Beijing where Zhu Ke-zhen and Huang Bing-wei became the leaders of geo-graphical sciences.Scholars such as Tan Qi-xiang and Hou Ren-zhi came to work in the Institute of Geography for developing historical geography.To help the national production and construction,the research orientation of "task-based discipline"im-plemented by the Chinese Academy of Sciences between the 1950s and the 1970s attracted scholars such as Tan Qi-xiang,Shi Nian-hai,and Hou Ren-zhi to join the study of the Yellow River,the Loess Plateau,and the desertification in the northwest of China,and their first China's Physical Geography series determined the topics for writing Historical Physical Geography,which led the study of historical geography along the research path of physiography(natural complexes).This paper agrees with the research method of scientific sociology,through a preliminary examination of the academic history between the characters(aca-demics),doctrines(works),careers(disciplines)and the historical backgrounds,and holds that research in the field of his-torical physiography demonstrates the disciplinary value by revealing the historical origin of the problems encountered in actual production and the disclosure of its crux,which finds expression in the service of our national construction in those days.One result of this approach is that the methods and contents of historical geography have been enriched,while,the discipline of his-torical geography has thus been demonstrated.
