It is of vital importance to enlarge students' vocabulary in English teaching. The methods are: letting students realize theimportance of words; teaching English word formation knowledge in class,for example, affixation, conversion, composition, blend-ing,backformation,shortening;teaching synonyms and antonyms,teaching words similar in spelling;words association, letting stu-dents reading widely;memorizing word lists and so on.
