The meaning of practical teaching on materials science and engineering specialty was understood in the view of the first level subject, and the problems of the practice teaching in the laboratory in ordinary universities in China were analyzed. The following view was reiterated.The mission of practice teaching in china′s ordinary universities is to teach the experimental method, research means of scientific discovery and the practical engineering technology in order to train student′s scientific ex⁃periment, engineering practice, and innovation abilities based on the cognition of subject knowledge and professional skills.Cor⁃responding to this, the laboratory of ordinary universities in China is the main base to have made practical teaching task, and the laboratory construction should be the stance and main direction of the practice teaching base construction ordinary universities.%站在一级学科专业角度理解“材料科学与工程”实践教学的含义，剖析目前我国高等学校本科实验室在实践教学方面存在的问题。提出高等学校的实践教学应该以培养大学生科学实验及工程实践的能力为目的，以传授科学发现的实验方法、研究手段以及工艺技术为任务，并在认知学科知识、掌握专业技能基础上实现大学生创新能力的培养；实验室应该是完成实践教学任务的主要基地，实验室建设应该是高校实践教学基地建设的落脚点与主要方向。
