In August 2014, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC held a meeting which deliberated and passed"Implementation Suggestions on Deepening the Examina-tion and Enrollment System Reform" (hereinafter referred to as"Suggestions") of Ministry of Education. It has pinpointed that the principle of"forming an examination and enrollment mode based on classified examination, comprehensive evaluation and plural-istic enrollment" should be established in the education reform. To impel the classified examination of general undergraduate ed-ucation and higher vocational education is a significant action to guide the healthy development of higher vocational and technical education. "Suggestions" also put forward the deepening of col-lege entrance examination contents, stating clearly and firmly that English teaching should return to the discipline itself, highlight and earnestly grasp the improvement of the practicality, basic knowledge and basic skills of language. This requires higher vo-cational colleges to face up to challenges, seize opportunities, transform education ideas and thoughts, establish modern out-looks on teaching and learning, and cultivate students' ability to learn English autonomously. In addition, they should also pay at-tention to the practice and application of language, adjust and optimize English curriculum system, explore college-enterprise cooperation and production-study integration, and realize the cultivation of pluralistic abilities. The aim of the above is to achieve the goal of observing education rules and returning to the essence of education in English teaching.%2014年8月，中共中央政治局召开会议，审议通过了教育部《关于深化考试招生制度改革的实施意见》（以下简称《意见》）。明确了教育改革中应建立“形成分类考试、综合评价、多元录取的考试招生模式”的原则。推进普通本科与高等职业教育分类考试，是引领高等职业技术教育健康发展的重大举措。《意见》还提出要深化高考考试内容改革。明确要求英语教学要回归学科本位，将语言的实用性、基础知识、基本能力的提高放在教学的突出位置，切实抓好。这就要求高职院校面对挑战，要抓住机遇，转变教育观念和教育思想，树立现代的教学观和学习观，培养学生自主学习英语的能力；应注重语言实践与应用，调整和优化英语课程体系，探索校企合作、产学融合的学习方式，实现多元能力的培养，以达到英语教学遵循教育规律，回归教育本质的目的。
