Objective To investigate the gene polymorphism of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase ( MTHFR) C677T and its association with susceptibility to esophageal cancer ( EC) in north Sichuan population. Methods The MTHFR C677T genotypes were detected by a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) -based restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) assay in 100 patients with EC and 97 population cancer-free controls in north Sichuan population. Results The frequencies of MTHFR genotypes,677CC,677CT,677TT were 37. 0%、45.0% 、18. 0% in patients with EC,and 41. 2% ,42. 3% ,16. 5% in controls respectively , no statistical difrerence between them was found ( % = 0. 829, P > 0. 05 ) . Conclusion There may be no relationship between MTHFR C677T polymorphisms and susceptibility of esophageal cancer in north Sichuan population.%目的 探讨亚甲基四氢叶酸还原酶(MTHFR)基因C677T多态性与川北地区食管癌易感性的关系.方法 用PCR-RFLP方法检测食管癌患者100例和同一地区无肿瘤病史的正常对照者97例的MTHFR基因C677T基因型分布.结果 MTHFR C677T呈多态性,可分为3种类型:677 CC、677CT、677TT,在食管癌中所占比例分别是37.0％、45.0％、18.0％,对照组分别是41.2％、42.3％、16.5％,两组总构成比差异无统计学意义(x2=0.829,P＞0.05).结论 MTHFR C677T基因多态性可能与川l北地区食管癌的易感性无关.
