20世纪末以来，高等教育在招生规模和学校数量上大幅增加。高等院校的空间布局从集聚走向扩散，但全国的高等院校空间差距反而有所扩大。一方面，地方经济发展需求是高校扩张的重要拉动力。地方经济的跨越式发展要求把经济的发展转变到依靠科技进步上来，尤其对于经济发展相对滞后的区域来说发展研究型大学的意义更为重要。另一方面，高校服务地方经济职能意识的提升是其重要的推动力。高校异地设立办学点或研究中心可以更好地完成高校技术推广服务的作用。%Since the end of the 20th century,enrollment scale and quantity of higher education institutes have been increas-ing dramatically.Meanwhile,spatial layout of colleges and universities has changed from aggregation to diffusion,but the space gap has widened.This paper points out that on one hand,the expansion of colleges and universities is a result of the local economic development.The leapfrog style development of local economy requires the reliance on scientific and techno-logical progress and it is especially important for developing areas to develop research universities.On the other hand, colleges and universities should enhance the consciousness of serving local economy.This is an important driving force.Setting campus and research branches in different locations can help improve the application of technology.
