Countries in the world have pursued educational development by promoting teachers'professional competence. In order to ameliorate the measures to foster educational talents and adapt to social changes, it is indispensable to review the history of the teacher professional development at home and abroad and make a comparison from such different angles as ages and countries. Besides, it also involves the introduction to the situation and problems of the professional development in middle school in mainland China.
