A new high-velocity hot air impingement dryer has been developed by U.S. manufacturer Glenro for use on nonwoven webs up to 210 in. wide (Fig. 1). Glenro says the gas-fired dryer uses high-velocity nozzles mounted beneath the product to apply hot air to the web at a right angle. The use of the hot air impingement technique is said to be extremely effective in applications where large quantities of water must be removed from a saturated or coated product.
