Chris Argyris' passing in November, 2013 gives us all an occasion to reflect on some of his many contributions. His research and writing had a profound effect on my career (Bartunek, 2006) as well as on the careers of many academics and practitioners concerned about organizational behavior and change around the world. For a journal such as AMLE, Argyris' writings, especially those with Donald Schon that focused on organizational learning (Argyris & Schon, 1974, 1996), have particular import.
