As they grow beyond their roots, many firms struggle to maintain the hospitable, neighborly ambiance that comes with being a local firm. They could learn a lesson from Michigan-based firm Yeo & Yeo, which has maintained that local cordiality even as it has steadily expanded services across the Great Lake State over the past century. "I look at our uniqueness and it goes back to Yeo & Yeo being more of a neighborhood firm," said president and CEO Thomas Hol-lerback, who joined the firm in 1983. "We're in a lot of neighborhoods. Some of the offices are smaller, but it allows us to pay close attention to the needs of our clients and the community. We want to be in those neighborhoods. That's our niche - giving back to those communities in which we live and work."
