The term "linked data" broadly refers to using the Web to connect related data. In their book Linked Data for Libraries, Archives and Museums: How to Clean, Link and Publish Your Metadata, authors Seth van Hooland and Ruben Verborgh more specifically refer to linked data as a set of best practices for the publication of structured data on the Web.
