This issue's ERM Ideas and Innovations column is from Laura Wrubel, Electronic Resources Content Manager at George Washington University. Laura discusses the "uncon-ference" she hosted in June 2013 for library staff working with e-resources. I was fortunate to attend this event. I greatly enjoyed the format, which provided the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and news with many attendees in ways that a traditional conference does not always offer. As Laura mentions, for many of us, this was a new type of gathering, including myself. Thanks to Laura's guidance provided in the unconference wiki postings and email messages, I quickly became acquainted with the potential goings on for the day and was prepared for the event. Given the challenges of maintaining e-resources in a constantly changing landscape, I think the unconference format, which you will read about in more detail in Laura's column, allows for increased open discussion and exchange of ideas that benefited all who attended.
