Porous metal-organic hybrid materials are currently of great interest and importance because of their novel coordination structure, relatively facile preparation, special properties, and potential practical applications. Some of the applications being considered include gas storage, catalysis, and separations, and they are also useful as support media for nanometer-scale materials. In particular, high selectivity for small-molecule adsorbents is a desirable property of porous inorganic materials because they may be implemented in gas separation and storage, Recently, there has been much research into methods for preparing functional, porous, solid-state materials suitable for these tasks. In addition, studies have focused on their gas sorption properties, with a special emphasis on light gases such as hydrogen, methane, acetylene, carbon dioxide, and oxygen, among others.
