Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been a talking point for the general public for some years now but nothing piqued people's interest more than the potential use of this type of aircraft to deliver parcels to their doorsteps. The catalyst for a wave of UAV delivery schemes began when Amazon's CEO Jeff Bezos launched the online retailer's Prime Air project in 2013, which led to a number of companies and organisations to then consider how the use of the technology could benefit their individual operations.
