The four partner countries (Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain) in the Eurofighter consortium signed a contract on 31 July for production of the first part of the third tranche of the fighter. The contract is worth about €8bn ($11.2bn) and is for 112 of thern236 aircraft in the third tranche. However, the UK has indicated that it is under 'no obligation' to buy Tranche 3b.rnA Swedish Air Force Saab JAS 39C Gripen fighter landed with wheels up at Ronneby Air Base. As investigations begin one of the rnpossibilities for the crash has been thought likely to be an error on the part of the pilot.
