Shareholders who filed a class action against Swiss trading group Glencore at a court in New Jersey two years ago had their hopes dashed on 31 July. Judge Susan Wigenton accepted an application from Glencore, its chief executive Ivan Glasenberg and its chief financial officer Steven Kalmin that she dismiss the action, which was aimed at obtaining compensation for stock exchange losses which the shareholders claimed was the result of corruption involving mines in the DRC.
