Production sharing contracts on Congo-K's blocks 3 and 5 are to be officially approved by presidential decree in coming weeks.rnFrozen for over two years, exploration is expected to shortly begin on block 3 owned by SacOil near the banks of Lake Albert and on block 5 on Lake Albert that's jointly owned by Dominion and Soco. According to our sources, the government's last cabinet meeting in May authorized the oil and finance ministers to re-negotiate certain points of the initial contracts penned in 2008. Subsequently, amendments were agreed between the government and the companies involved last week. The amendments exclusively concerned the amount of front-end bonuses the companies will pay. Initially, the three laid out between USD 1 and 2 and they will now have to cough up equivalent sums before a presidential decree is issued.
