Capt. Nicholas Giglio, an F-16 pilot with the 77th Fighter Squadron at Shaw AFB, S.C., died Oct. 15 when his airplane collided with another F-16 from Shaw over the Atlantic Ocean about 40 miles east of Folly Beach, S.C., during a night training mission.rnThe second pilot, Capt. Lee Bryant, managed to land his aircraft at Charleston AFB, S.C. Despite an exhaustive 48-hour search by Air Force, Coast Guard, and Navy air and sea assets over some 8,000 square nautical miles of sea, Giglio's body was not recovered. However, debris was found, thought to be from his F-16.
