Winnipeg-based NewLeaf Travel Company has joined the low-cost airlines trend. Its inaugural revenue flight from John C Munro Hamilton International Airport to Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (extending to Kelowna) was carried out on July 25 using a Flair Airlines Boeing 737-4Q8, C-FLHJ (c 25104). The route is the first of 11 new non-stop, ultra-low-cost routes across Canada (its destinations being Halifax, Moncton, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Kelowna, Kamloops, Abbotsford and Victoria). Many of these are considered underserved destinations. Routes will initially be served two or three times a week.
