A new airline, Africa World Airlines Limited, will soon be flying in Ghana and West Africa. It received its air carrier license from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority on March 4 and will begin operations in June. The airline is a partnership between SAS Finance Group in Ghana and Chinese investment and technical partners. It will initially fly Embraer ERJ-145s from Accra to three Ghanaian cities (Kumasi, Tamale and Takoradi) under a hub and spoke system with Accra at the centre. However, from next year it will also fly Boeing 737-300s as its operation expands.
