The first Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) for the Royal Saudi Air Force completed its first flight following conversion on March 15. The aircraft (EC- 338, msn 980, ex F-WWYR) was airborne for 4 hours 15 minutes, lifting off from Madrid-Barajas Airport and landing at Airbus Military's facility at Getafe, also near Madrid. While the majority of conversions from 'green' A330-200 airframes to MRTT standard take place at Getafe, Iberia's Maintenance and Engineering unit and EADS undertake similar work at Barajas. The Saudi aircraft is the first completed by that facility.
