摘要

Flights by the four Airbus Military C295M transport aircraft operated by the Czech military have again been halted after one experienced serious problems just before landing on October 30. Its navigation display - as well as several other panel instruments - stopped functioning and one of its two turboprop engines also failed, according to Mira Trebicka, a spokeswoman of the general staff. Czech Republic bought the planes -without declaring a public tender, a fact criticised by the European Union - in 2009 for €132 million. The purchase went ahead despite objections from the army's Chief of Staff, Vlastimil Picek, that the aircraft were not large enough and could not fly to Afghanistan, where the Central European country has troops deployed, without a stopover.
