The Board of Ryanair decided to terminate negotiations for 200 Boeing 737-800s on December 17, 2009. The low-cost carrier was seeking to take delivery of the new airliners between 2013 and 2016, but ended talks with Boeing after it concluded that it could not reach an accord with the manufacturer before the end of 2009. According to Ryanair's Chief Executive Officer, Michael O'Leary, the price for the aircraft had been agreed, but Boeing was unwilling to "incorporate some other (unspecified) terms and conditions obtained for the existing deal in the new order.
