If you want to take a commercial flight within Ecuador, you can choose between four main airlines. Two of them, AeroGal and Icaro, are privately owned and LAN Ecuador is an affiliate of LAN Chile. The fourth, and largest airline is TAME, the acronym for Transporte Aerea Militar Ecuatoriana. Operated by civilian personnel under the command of the Ecuadorian Air Force its main task is not to make a profit, but to serve the people of Ecuador.
