Alan Lord examines the developments at Beijing's Capital International Airport to cater for this year's Olympic Games and the future growth of air travel in China. Beijing's Capital International Airport has undergone a major expansion as part of the preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, which has included building the world's largest terminal and a new runway. These developments will also help cater for the increase in passengers, generated by the growth of China's economy, in the years to come. In the build-up to the Olympic Games, which take place between August 8 and 24. the airport can be expected to handle more llights than London Heathrow or Paris Charles de Gaulle.
