This book, first published in 1938, is reproduced from the 1941 wartime edition. Nigel Tangye was born in 1909 and served for three years in the Royal Navy before leaving and spending a £25 coming-of-age cheque on flying lessons. For some years he specialised in giving aerobatic demonstrations at flying meetings and twice took part in the RAF Display at Hendon. A flying instructor at the London Aeroplane Club, he was asked to reportto the Air Ministry, Flying Training Directorate, as a result of writing this book. He then trained prospective RAF pilots there during World War Two.
