SIKORSKY HAS secured a launch customer for its new S-92A+ upgrade kit: VIH Aviation Capital and its operating company Cougar Helicopters. The S-92A+ upgrade kits feature a Phase IV main gear box designed to exceed regulatory requirements by providing the helicopter with a 'return to base' capability covering a range of more than 400nm (740km) if the system loses oil pressure. The upgrade kit also includes an increase in maximum gross weight to 27,700lb (12,564kg) with improved component lifespan times. The first S-92A+ upgrade kit is expected to be delivered to Cougar by 2023.
