Divided among three test bases at Istres, Cazaux and Toulouse, the Centre d'Essais en Vol (CEV, or Flight Test Centre) is tasked with conducting test programmes in operational conditions to check the performance of civil and military aircraft, airborne equipment and armaments. The CEV handles all prototype testing, weapons firings, weapon systems developments and avionics test programmes on behalf of the Delegation Generate pour l'Armement (DGA) the French Ministry of Defence (MoD) procurement agency. As such, it intervenes in the development, qualification and procurement of French MoD fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. It is also involved in the airworthiness regulation and certification of civilian aircraft (including airliners and helicopters).
