The US Air Force's Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) programme is facing an uncertain future because of funding difficulties. CRH is intended to replace the service's aging fleet of Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawks and 112 are sought. The only bid submitted to a request for proposals released in October 2012 came from Sikorsky teamed with Lockheed Martin, which offered the CRH-60 based on the UH-60 Black Hawk. The bid was judged to be technically acceptable and a contract, valued at up to $6.8 billion, could be awarded in the second half of 2014.
