The second Northrop Grumman X-47B (BuNo 168064/502', AV-2) unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV) completed its first flight from Edwards AFB, California, on November 22, 2011. The aircraft undertook a 29-minute flight, during which it reached an altitude of 5,000ft (1,524m). It has joined the first X-47B (BuNo 168063/501', AV-1), which flew for the first time on February 4, 2011, and had accumulated 16 sorties by the time AV-2 flew. AV-2 will initially remain at Edwards while AV-1 will be transferred to the US Navy's test facilities at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland. AV-2 will join it there later in 2012.
