I had just finished spraying the main portion of a 40-acre cotton field in rural Tipton County, Tennessee, when I decided to make one more pass. I didn't want to miss any boll weevils hiding near the edges. I dove the Cessna 188B from about 300 feet toward the neat rows of young, green plants below. I had just begun to level off when I heard a strange scraping sound, then saw a thick, black electrical wire snap across the top of my airplane's long snout like a giant bullwhip.
