摘要

On April 25, the world woke to news that a magnitude 7.8 earthquake had struck central Nepal. More than 8,000 people died and at least 18,000 were injured in the immediate destruction of the quake and its after effects. The UN estimates that some 8 million people-one-third of Nepal's population-have been affected by the original earthquake and subsequent aftershocks and tremors. Among those first to the Nepal rescue efforts was Airlink, a relatively new organization that brings together airlines, the professional aviation community and nonprofit organizations to get urgently needed supplies and experts to crisis areas.
