EADS formally rebranded as Airbus Group Jan. 3, retaining its Airbus commercial aircraft identity and renaming its other two divisions as Airbus Defense and Space, and Airbus Helicopters. It appointed Airbus Americas chairman Allan McArtor as chairman and CEO of Airbus Group, the company's North American business unit, succeeding Sean O'Keefe, effective March 1. O'Keefe elected to step down to fully address ongoing medical issues due to injuries he sustained in a 2010 aircraft accident in Alaska.
