Qingdao Airlines, which formally launched in June, agreed to order 23 Airbus A320 family aircraft, comprising five A320ceos and 18 A320neos Sept. 25. The deal is subject to approval from China's central government. First delivery is expected to begin in 2016. The airline wil start operations in 2014 with leased A320 aircraft. Qingdao Airlines president Xiao Liyuan said, "As a newly established airline, we need to [do] thorough research before we [decide] which aircraft to introduce to start operations and build up our brand new fleet. We pay much attention to the reliability, economics and cabin comfort of the aircraft and [take] into consideration the potential for further fleet expansion."
