[Special to ATW]The airline industry lost one of its strongest supporters with the passing of writer Robert J. (Bob) Serling on May 6 at the age of 92. Serling covered the industry for six decades as a reporter for UPI and as author of more than two dozen books. His first book, "The Probable Cause," published in 1962, explained how aircraft accidents and near-accidents were investigated. Serling wrote two more books about airline safety, "The Electra Story" in 1963, and "Loud and Clear" in 1970.
