An industry survey on the benefits and costs of airport noise and operationsmonitoring systems is one of 19 projects in the Airport Cooperative Research Program’sFY 2020 research program.The survey, to be funded at a level of $250,000, is also the only noise project inthe ACRP’s FY 2020 research program, which was announced on Aug. 8.“Airports use noise and operations monitoring systems (NOMS) to collectflight track and aircraft identification, noise measurements, weather, and other pertinentdata. These systems also can be used to provide nearby communities with requestedinformation about aircraft activity and noise in their vicinity,” the projectsummary explains.
