Loud noise from airplanes landing and taking off causesbirds to become more aggressive and potentially impairs theirhearing, a study published Aug. 22 by researchers at the UK’sManchester Metropolitan University reports.The study found that common chiffchaffs – a warbler thatbreeds in open woodlands throughout northern and temperateEurope and Asia – living close to airports were five timesmore likely to attack a speaker emitting bird song than theircounterparts who lived away from airport noise.
