A recent study by German and Danish heart researchers sheds light on several questions currently of keen interest in the United States as FAA considers updating its aircraft noise policy: 1. Are aircraft noise metrics that average noise energy over time, such as DNL and Leq, adequate to assess the impact of aircraft noise on health without the use of additional supplemental metrics? 2. Does the number of aircraft noise events people are exposed to make a differene in terms of health impacts?
