Current and emerging sources of civil aircraft noise, ongoing research on thatnoise, and needed noise research are defined in the Transportation ResearchBoard’s recently issued report Critical Issues in Aviation and the Environment2021.In addition to aircraft noise, the report also addresses the environmental impactsof aviation on air quality, climate change, and water quality; includes sustainablesolutions to address environmental challenges in aviation; and discussesprocesses and tools for implementing sustainable solutions.
