Pushback and departure were early (again because the load was so light), and takeoff was sprightly for this 777-200ER. Following initial climb-out, flight attendants offered mixed nuts and the drinks that had been ordered by passengers while on the ground. Refills were offered twice, but then the FAs again retreated behind the curtain—for 2V£ hours.Scheduled flight time was 7hr 45min, and it made no sense that, while passengers stared at their empty glasses, meal service did not begin until 150 minutes into the flight. I assumed there was a problem with the ovens, but when I inquired the answer was that there were no problems with the galleys.Most passengers had reclined their angled lie-flat seats by that point and dozed off. So when cabin crewmembers began laying the table linens it was a disturbance for customers who had originally wanted to eat but were now fast asleep.
