Many people have had the experience of riding in an automobile that still has the so-called 'new car smell'. But far fewer have had the opportunity to be on the delivery flight of a brand-new multi-million dollar airliner. On October 26, 2012, along with a select group of some 40 Alaska Airlines (ASA) employees, Airways travelled on the carrier's first Boeing 737-900ER (extended range) when it was delivered from Snohomish County Airport (Paine Field), Everett, Washington (IATA: PAE) to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Washington (SEA).
