But they did ask why his luggage contained two bird eggs and several 'undeclared eggplants'. His unsatisfactory reply prompted a strip search, which revealed that beneath his trousers was a pair of tights containing two live pigeons-each strapped to a leg. Now pigeonholed as a smuggler, he will no longer be as free as a bird. In addition to facing a huge fine, the dove-lover is likely to be cooped up in jail.
