Founded in November 2002 by Balkan Air Tour, Bulgaria Air (News from the Airways, October 2003) has adopted the latest reservations and ticketing procedures, so I obtained a simple printout of my reservation when I checked in at FCO's Terminal C. As a non-Schengen departure, Flight FB450 was assigned to Gate C03, at the start of the pier which, for many years, was the only international departure area at FCO. The waiting area was very quiet, with only a handful of passengers waiting for the boarding call. It came later than expected, less than 20 minutes before our 1020 STD, without any delay having been previously advised. While being whisked on a bus across the ramp, I noted that our flight was to be operated by a 'presidential' aircraft.
