Despite the summer afternoon, Frankfurt Airport was under gloomy dark clouds, promising showers later in the evening. Traffic at this busy European hub was heavy as usual, with airline liveries from all over the world decorating the aprons. Alitalia uses Terminal 1B at FRA, part of the original structure, which hosts most carriers. The interior of this terminal reveals that it has been greatly expanded and rebuilt to cope with growing traffic over the years, with areas where the architecture retains the style of the Seventies.
